Head of NSMA Meets with Dean of Faculty of Media at University of Aden

Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met on Monday in his office at the NSMA's headquarters with Dr. Mohammed Ali Nasser, Dean of the Faculty of Media at the University of Aden.

In the meeting, Mr. Al-Awlaqi asserted that NSMA is interested in communicating with all media and research institutions and centres in the Capital, Aden, and in the governorates of the South, recalling the meeting that took place yesterday with the director generals of the media offices of the local authorities in several governorates of the South to touch on their conditions, needs, and raise suggestions.

Likewise, Al-Awlaqi pointed out that among these efforts, the headship of NSMA was directed to communicate with media academic institutions in the South, represented by the Faculty of Media at the University of Aden and the Department of Media and Journalism at Hadramout University, to find out their needs and plans to develop their infrastructure and promote educational and academic outcomes.

Al-Awlaki listened to a detailed explanation from Dr. Mohammed Ali Nasser, Dean of the Faculty of Media, about the conditions of the college since its establishment in 2019 and the challenges it faces, whether in terms of infrastructure or in updating teaching curricula and providing the material and technical base for media training and qualification, indicating that the establishment of the Faculty of Media is a national project that needs more support and attention from the state and other parties.

To the end of the meeting, Al-Awlaki affirms that NSMA will work to shed light on and convey the voice of this emerging Faculty to the concerned authorities to work on providing its requirements and whatever would raise the academic and practical level of university professors, students, and graduates of this Faculty.
