Shatara Meets with Director of Yemen and Jordan Office of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES)

Mr. Lutfi Shatara, the head of the Research and Decision Support Center (RDSC) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and deputy chairman of the National Assembly, met today, Thursday, in his office in the capital, Aden, with Dr. Magdalena Kirchner, director of the Yemen and Jordan office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).

During the meeting, Mr. Shatara reviewed with Mrs. Kirchner the recent political developments in the South and the expansion of participation within the framework of the STC after a series of dialogue sessions with a number of components that culminated in the signing of the Southern National Charter, which determined the fundamentals for the upcoming stage, and the consensus on the establishment of the federal state of the South.

Shatara reviewed the ways of cooperating and expanding participation in the various activities, like conducting workshops and training fields to raise the capabilities of the RDSC's staff in line with the requirements of the upcoming stage.

For her part, Mrs. Kirchner expressed her satisfaction with the positive participation of the RDSC with a research paper in the workshop that was supervised by the Foundation and held yesterday on current challenges and political entitlements.

The regional director of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung confirmed the possibility of expanding cooperation between the commissions and bodies of the STC, including the RDSC.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mahmoud Kayah, Senior Program Manager, and Mayada Jamal Al-Baydani, Project Manager at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).
