On the Second Day, Sessions of Consultative Meeting of Southern Political Components Continued

On the second day, the sessions of the consultative meeting of the southern political components and parties and civil society organizations, which is scheduled to continue from 4 to 7 May, 2023, in the capital, Aden, under the patronage of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), under the slogan "For a New South that Embodies the aspirations of the people of the South for independence and the restoration of the independent federal state of the South."

At the beginning of the session, which was held today, Friday, Dr. Saleh Mohsen Al-Hajj, head of the internal southern national dialogue team (ISNDT), stressed in a summarized speech the importance of all participants' awareness of the major entrusted national task in this meeting and that everyone should have a spirit of responsibility and full awareness in a manner that meets the aspirations and hopes of the people of the South and fulfills its goal of restoring the independent federal state of the South.

Following that, the agenda of the consultative meeting was read and ratified, in addition to reading the report of the Southern National Dialogue Team (SNDT), which included the team's activities during the previous period of its dialogue with all southern political components both at home and abroad through bilateral and expanded public meetings, panel discussions, and workshops to build strong relations on the basis of the solid intellectual and political unity of the southern rank.

During the meeting, committees were formed to reformulate the draft documents submitted to the meeting members to raise notes and commentaries on drafting the Southern National Pact, drafting the basic orientations for the project of the State of the South, and the Committee on the Foundations and Principles of Negotiation.

The meeting discussed a range of remarks and suggestions made by the delegates, which expressed the keenness of each one to come up with an objective and scientific vision of the contents of building the independent federal state of the South in a way that preserves the national identity of our southern people and the rights and future of the generations in light of a free and dignified economic and social life.
