The General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Tuesday, at its headquarters in the capital, Aden, chaired by Sheikh Abdulrahman Jalal Al-Subaihi, a member of the STC Presidium and the Secretary-General of the General Secretariat.
The meeting discussed a report on the political landscape in the Southern national arena during the second half of September. The report, presented by the Secretariat's Political Body, covered the outcomes of the participation of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in the United States and detailed meetings with representatives of regional and international countries, which contributed to bolstering the presence of the cause of the people of the South in international forums.
During the meeting, Mr. Mohammed Al-Shaqqi, the Assistant Secretary-General for Governorate Affairs and University Coordinating Bodies, gave a comprehensive briefing on the key tasks and programs implemented by the Presidential Guidance and Monitoring Teams in the governorates of the South during September, which focused on enhancing the Council's fieldwork in line with the requirements of the current phase.
The meeting reviewed the most significant developments and updates across all governorates of the South and the region in general. These included the economic and service conditions resulting from the unpaid salaries for several months, in addition to the continued threats to and attacks on international commercial navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden by the terrorist Houthi militia.
Furthermore, the meeting examined the weekly report on the tasks, activities, and initiatives carried out by the bodies of the General Secretariat during the previous week, in addition to reviewing and approving the minutes of the previous meeting, after incorporating the raised remarks.
