The General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting for the month of September on Tuesday at its headquarters in the capital, Aden, chaired by Eng. Nizar Haitham, the Deputy Secretary-General.
The meeting reviewed a report by the political authority on the latest political developments, both in the south and the wider region. The report focused on the positive impact of recent decrees issued by President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi on the empowerment of Southern personalities and the widespread public support these decrees have received from various segments of Southern society.
In another context, the Secretariat strongly condemned the incitement campaigns being waged against prominent Southern media figures, specifically naming Mr. Salah Al-Aqel, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, and Mr. Osama Al-Sharmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information. In this context, the Secretariat emphasized its full solidarity and standing by their side and simultaneously emphasized holding accountable the individuals and parties behind these campaigns.
The meeting then listened to a comprehensive briefing presented by Mr. Mohammed Al-Shaqqi, Assistant Secretary-General for Governorates and University Coordination Bodies, outlining the most prominent activities implemented by the presidential guidance and monitoring teams in the governorates of the South over the past period, in line with the requirements of the current phase and enhancing the Council's fieldwork.
The meeting also reviewed a summary presented by the Legal Affairs and Human Rights Authority regarding the violations against the people of the South during the second quarter of the current year, 2025, due to the ongoing attacks by the Houthi militia and extremist terrorist groups.
In addition to that, the meeting touched on the conditions and suffering of the people of the South as a result of the public employees' salaries that have gone unpaid and the lack of any solutions or serious movement by the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and the relevant authorities in the government and the Central Bank in this regard, reaffirming that the STC has been and will definitely remain alongside the people in demanding and obtaining their legitimate rights.
The meeting reviewed and approved its previous minutes after incorporating the raised remarks.
