The STC Supreme Executive Leadership Holds Seventh Meeting Chaired by Deputy President Abdulrahman Al-Muharrami

The Supreme Executive Leadership of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held on Saturday its Seventh regular meeting in the capital, Aden, chaired by the STC Deputy President Abdulrahman Al-Muharrami.

At the beginning of the meeting, the executive leadership reviewed the implementation status of the directives and decisions issued in the previous meeting, as well as the tasks accomplished across various sectors, and approved required measures to accelerate the pace of work and overcome obstacles that hindered the completion of certain assignments.

The meeting then discussed achievements made in various economic and service aspects over the past period and explored possible ways to leverage promising investment opportunities in the capital, Aden.

After that, the executive leadership listened to a report from the Minister of State and Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, which summarized what has been achieved within the framework of preparations for the economic conference to be held in the capital, Aden, in the coming days, which aims to enhance investment opportunities, attract national capital, and revitalize the city's economy. In this concern, the leadership reiterated the importance of strengthening partnerships with the private sector and encouraging investments that support the wheel of development and create new job opportunities for youth.

In another context, the Supreme Executive Leadership received a detailed report from Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Salem Salman Al-Wali outlined the ministry's plans and programs, coordinated with local authorities, to continue its oversight role in price monitoring and controlling violations according to the law, and efforts to bolster the country's strategic food stocks, ensure the availability of goods in the market, prevent monopolies, and protect consumers from exploitation and price manipulation.

Regarding this, Al-Muharrami stressed the necessity of balance and moderation in implementing reform measures, based on the principle of "no harm, no foul," to ensure they align with the path of improving the local currency and preserve rights, and highlighted the importance of considering all dimensions and weighing the pros and cons before proceeding with implementation.

In a separate context, the meeting was briefed by the Governor of the capital, Aden, on the aftermath of the recent tropical depression that hit the city, the damage it caused in several areas, and the role of local authorities in promptly addressing the repercussions, and enhancing coordination mechanisms with relief and humanitarian organizations on the ground to ensure urgent aid reaches those affected and to implement effective interventions that alleviate their suffering. In this context, directives were issued to establish a disaster management unit and find sustainable solutions for rainwater drainage in the capital, Aden, to improve rapid response in future emergencies.

In the same context, the meeting listened to a detailed report by Minister of Public Works Eng. Salem Al-Harizi, in which he outlined the measures taken by his ministry to address the damage to the road infrastructure in the governorates affected by the flash floods, in particular the formation of a team from the Road Maintenance Fund and the General Corporation for Roads to inspect the damage to the road infrastructure in the affected governorates.

The Supreme Executive Leadership commended the continuing development support from the brotherly United Arab Emirates (UAE), particularly in the clean and sustainable energy sector, through the ongoing construction of solar power stations. This was highlighted by the recent official inauguration of the 53-megawatt station in Shabwa governorate and the launch of the second phase at the capital, Aden, solar power plant, adding 120 new megawatts to double the station's capacity to 240 megawatts, affirming that these strategic projects reflect the depth of fraternal relations and strong ties between the two peoples and embody an effective partnership in the path of construction and sustainable development.

At the end of the meeting, Al-Muharrami urged members of the Supreme Executive Leadership to positively deal with all key files with utmost seriousness, assume responsibility with a team spirit, and work to select competent individuals and well-qualified persons and empower them to perform their duties in service of the public interest, and noted that the current phase "necessitates an effective partnership and ongoing coordination between various institutions to ensure tangible results are achieved on the ground."
