The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, in the presence of the STC ministers in the government and heads of the auxiliary bodies.
During its meeting, the Presidium reviewed the worsening humanitarian conditions faced by citizens across all governorates of the South, amid the accelerating collapse of living and service conditions, a direct consequence of the government's inability to fulfill its core responsibilities towards its citizens, and highlighted the government's failure to ensure the continuity of basic services, like electricity, water, and healthcare. Furthermore, the Presidium noted the ongoing collapse of the national currency against foreign currencies and the delayed disbursement of public sector salaries.
In this regard, the Authority received a detailed explanation from the STC Acting President on the newly formed emergency committee, outlining the nature of its tasks and work mechanism, and the urgent measures it has already started to implement in coordination with the relevant government authorities to secure the provision of fuel for power plants in the capital, Aden, and other governorates, and to accelerate the payment of salaries of employees and military personnel, in addition to supporting the efforts of local authorities to raise the efficiency of service and administrative performance, in order to improve the standard of living of citizens and enhance security and service stability in various governorates.
In a separate context, the Presidium commended the reopening of the international highway connecting the capital, Aden, to Sana'a via Al-Dhale'a governorate for humanitarian reasons in accordance with directives from President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi to alleviate the suffering of travelers, particularly the sick, elderly, and families, and to facilitate the passage of vital relief convoys, noting that these directives reflect President Al-Zubaidi's commitment to upholding humanitarian values and confirm the STC's support for all measures that ease the burdens on citizens amid the dire humanitarian and economic conditions.
At the end of its meeting, the Presidium extended its sincerest congratulations and blessings to the people of the South and its heroic armed forces and security services on the occasion of the approaching Eid al-Adha, praying to Allah, the Almighty, that this great occasion return to the people of the South with goodness, prosperity, and blessings, and expressed hope for security and stability to prevail throughout the homeland and for the struggles of the people of the South to be crowned with further progress toward achieving their legitimate aspirations for freedom, independence, and the restoration of their state.
