Al-Kathiri Discusses Humanitarian Interventions of Nordic International Support Foundation in Governorates of the South

Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, received today, Thursday, at the Assembly’s headquarters, a delegation from the Nordic International Support Foundation (NIS), headed by Mr. Qassem Jabodo A'ali, Regional Director of the Foundation.

During the meeting, attended by Mr. Amr Al-Beidh, a member of the STC's Presidium and Special Representative of the President of the STC for Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Najeeb Qayid Fare'a, Head of the Department of International Organizations and Human Rights at the Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Authority (FEAA) of the STC, Mr. Al-Kathiri was briefed on the foundation's areas of work and the interventions required to support vulnerable and marginalized groups in the society, improve basic infrastructure such as schools and hospitals, as well as boost education and employment opportunities and sustainable development. In addition to contributing to promoting peace and maintaining stability in affected areas, providing psychological support and awareness programs, and engaging youth and women in various aspects of community life and development.

The meeting discussed the interventions of the Foundation in the governorates of the South in the humanitarian, development, healthcare, and educational fields and how to reach the displaced persons and alleviate the burden on the host community in the most needy and neglected areas, which suffer from a severe lack of services and difficult living conditions due to the ongoing war of the Houthi militias and terrorist groups.

Mr. Al-Kathiri highlighted the importance of coordinating with local authorities in the governorates and relevant government bodies, indicating that the STC, through its organizations department at the FEAA, will provide the foundation with data, reports, and statistics on all humanitarian and development aspects, the situation of displaced persons, and host community, affirming that the STC will secure the foundation's movements in the governorates, facilitate its communication with local authorities and relevant bodies, and provide all required facilities to properly carry out its assigned tasks.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mustafa Abdel Nour, Director of Political and Security Affairs at the Foundation; Ms. Ahlam Othman, Coordinator of Development Projects; Mr. Tariq Abu Bakr, Assistant Regional Director; and Mr. Fahim Saif, Director of the Office of the Head of the FEAA of the STC.
