The Southern Transitional Council (STC) held on Tuesday an artistic and speech celebration on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the glorious October 14 Revolution, themed our “Indigenous Identity of the South,” organized by the Supreme Committee for National Events in cooperation with the local leadership executive body (LLEB) in the capital, Aden, under the patronage of President
Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC.
During the celebrative event, which was attended by leaders of the STC, ministers in the government, and a number of military and security commanders, Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, delivered a speech, initially conveying to the attendees the greetings of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC.
In his speech, Mr. Al-Kathiri stressed that the anniversary of the October 14 Revolution represents the culmination of the struggles of the people of the South and the product of successive uprisings against British colonialism that continued for 129 years, highlighting that the Revolution of the South was not a reflection of any other revolution, but rather came from the throes of the struggle of the people of the South.
Al-Kathiri pointed out that the people of the South continued for decades to resist the British colonialists, armed with their sterling will, and today they face a new occupation imposed on them. In the context of his speech, he prayed to the souls of the martyrs of the Radfan massacre on its seventeenth anniversary, along with all the martyrs of the Southern Revolution.
Al-Kathiri continued, saying, “We affirm that the patience of the STC, led by President Al-Zubaidi, and the people of the South is not infinite. The people have made up their minds and have lined up behind their political leadership and will not accept any attempts to procrastinate the cause of the South.” He pointed out that the STC pledges to the people to continue following the path of the martyrs until fulfilling the aspirations of the people in restoring their state of the South with its full sovereignty.
Al-Kathiri concluded his speech by emphasizing that the South faces challenges from all sides, whether political, economic, military, or media, but today it has its decision in hand and is capable of achieving its goals whenever it wants. He added that the political leadership, represented by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, will not give up its hard-won national gains, and will pursue to struggle until the stage is completed and the aspirations of the people of the South are fulfilled.
Mr. Zaid Al-Naqeeb, Head of the Supreme Committee for National Events and Celebrations of the STC, gave a speech in which he focused on the significance of this occasion as a symbol of the restoration of Southern identity and the affirmation of its existence, which embodies the restoration of identity of the South and its existence. He recalled the sacrifices of fathers and grandfathers who sacrificed their precious lives for the sake of the homeland, noting that the people of the South have a deep-rooted history and a rich civilization that cannot be denied. He further asserted that the adherence to the identity of the South and the goals for which they have struggled remain steadfast and that there is no room for despair in their journey towards achieving these objectives.
He expressed deep gratitude and greetings to the political leadership, led by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, and to the Southern Armed Forces, reaffirming that the people of the South are determined to continue the struggle until the state of the South is regained with its full sovereignty and consolidates the foundations of the modern civil state based on justice, law, and equal citizenship, emphasizing the importance of Southern cohesiveness, especially the role of youth as future leaders, and calling on everyone to adhere to the goals and principles to achieve the aspirations of the people of the South.
A veteran of the 14 October Revolution, Abdalelah Abdullah, delivered a speech highlighting the revolutionaries' heroism and the key milestones of the uprising, highlighting their sacrifices for freedom and independence.
In his speech, Abdullah reaffirmed that the struggle of the people of the South will continue unabated until all their national goals are achieved, stressing the importance of preserving the gains of the revolution and following the path of the heroes who sacrificed for the South.
The celebration event was interspersed with a variety of artistic performances that embodied the spirit of the revolution. Young singers of the South delivered patriotic songs that ignited the audience's enthusiasm, while poets versed poems that immortalized the heroism of the Southern revolutionaries. In addition, young talents of the South displaced expressive artistic performances that reflected the spirit of revolution and freedom.
