President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), attended on Saturday morning, in the capital, Aden, the closing celebration of the “President Al-Zubaidi Prize for Innovation and Scientific Research."
At the celebration event, which was attended by members of the STC’s Presidium, President Al-Zubaidi delivered a speech, the full text of which is as follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All praise is for Allah, Lord of the Worlds. May the praise of Allah and His peace be on Prophet Muhammad [PBUH], his family, and Companions, and those who follow him in righteousness until the Day of Judgment.
Allah, the Almighty, says in the holy Quran: {And say, "Do deeds! Allah will see your deeds, and (so will) His Messenger and the believers." Allah Almighty is truthful
Ladies and gentlemen, pioneers of science and platforms of enlightenment, a community of researchers, and makers of civilizations
All the attendees, each by name and title, I would initially like to greet you with the greeting of our Islamic religion. May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
It is a matter of pride and privilege for me to be among you today as we all celebrate the plenary session of this youth academic science quest in our beloved capital, Aden.
The initiative that we have taken to allocate a prize for scientific research comes from our full conviction that the process of building and development can only start on sound scientific foundations based on research and experience in the first place, and based on our awareness of the nature of the current civilizational moment that the world has reached in terms of scientific development in various walks of life and the importance of coping up with nations and keeping pace with the march of development and progress, in which nations and peoples rise only by their share of scientific research and creative achievement.
In light of the circumstances we are living in, we were keen to sharpen the determination and push the distinguished to further excellence and creativity by stimulating innovative minds and encouraging them to create and invent, opening new horizons for talented males and females, and distinguished youth of our beloved South, developing ambition and scientific research in their minds and perceptions, to overcome the challenges of the present, and achieve the requirements of the South to keep pace with the future with a strategic vision and elaborate well-defined scientific plans.

We are fully convinced that our youth are the backbone of this nation, and we have high hopes for them to perform their assigned role in renewing and revitalizing our society in terms of leadership, innovations, and skills.
Ladies and gentlemen
The political leadership of the STC has taken upon its shoulders a great responsibility to sponsor and provide multiple and diverse opportunities for young people and has striven to empower them in various fields, so that they can effectively contribute to supporting the development and construction process of this nation and achieving the aspired goal of its people to restore their land and build their independent federal state on its entire national territory, a homeland in which peace, prosperity, security, and stability will prevail.
Sisters and brothers, all the attendees,
While celebrating the submission of this prize, we felicitate not only those top achievers but also all those who participated in this quest, and we appreciate their keenness, diligence, and perseverance to become effective and productive leaders who contribute to the uplift of their society and their homeland.
At the end, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the judging committee and this academic group that made great efforts in studying, evaluating, and discussing all scientific research. I also salute the young people and participating researchers, and to whoever contributed to bringing this competition to its final stage today, with the Youth and Sports Department at the General Secretariat of the STC's Presidium and the Youth Commission assisting the Presidium of the STC.
Again, I express my congratulations to those who achieved first ranks, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to those who did not succeed in reaching the final stage, as this is only the beginning and I am sure that you will definitely be better in the future. I hope that each year the research projects for this prize will provide a set of innovative scientific solutions to overcome the problems facing our people.

At the end of honoring the winners, President Al-Zubaidi gave directives to the Youth Commission and the Youth and Sports Department in the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the STC to establish a financial fund to support scientific research.
