Lamlas and Al-Khubji Discuss with Academics and Politicians the Latest Political Developments



 An extended meetings was held at the premises of the Southern Transitional Council on Wednesday, congregating the STC leadership with the academic body and the political, social and cultural elites in the capital Aden.

 At the outset of the meeting, the Secretary General of the Southern Transitional Council, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas welcomed all the attendees, affirming that the role of the elites in forming the Transitional Council was clear and distinct and that the coming stage requires more coordination between the Council and these elites along with youth and student sectors with a view to benefit from energy, expertise, and knowledge in enhancing the political, organizational and public work of the Council to achieve the aspirations and goals of the people of the South.

 Mr. Lamlas briefed the attendees on the nature of the work of the STC Secretariat and all its departments that would work better and in line with the political role of the Transitional Council during the coming period.

For his part, Dr. Nasser Al-Khubji Reviewed the results of the meeting of the STC leadership with the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths, adding that it was positive and fruitful and concluded with Griffiths' affirmation that the next stage requires the participation of the southerners in talks and negotiations through which the United Nations seeks a just and comprehensive settlement for a lasting peace.

 Dr. Al-Khubji made it clear that the Southern Transitional Council does what it takes to open channels of communication with all the southern political components and elites that are not under the umbrella of the Council, adding that the next stage will witness conducting inter-Southern dialogue to complete previous dialogues which started abroad.

 On the same track, Adnan Al-Kaf reviewed aspects of cooperation and coordination between the Southern Transitional Council and the United Arab Emirates, revealing that a 120-megawatt power station will be installed in October and a satellite channel with a southern identity and character will be shortly opened.
