Al-Muharrami Directs the Ministry of Oil to Increase Efforts to Secure Oil Supplies, Ensure Market Stability and Electricity Availability


Mr. Abdul Rahman Abu Zara'a Al-Muharrami, Deputy President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), directed the Minister of Oil and Minerals to redouble efforts to enhance the
stable-supply status, meet the living requirements and needs of citizens, and the local market, highlighting the importance of coordinating efforts to secure the continued supply of diesel and mazut fuel to power plants.

This came during his meeting today, Monday, in the capital Aden, with Dr. Saeed Suleimanq Al-Shamasi, Minister of Oil and Minerals, Eng.Tariq Mansour Al-Waledi, the executive director of the Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC), and Dr. Abdullah Omair, Executive Director of the Yemen Investment Company for Oil and Minerals (YICOM). They presented a detailed report that included the progress of the ministry and its facilities, the plans followed to resume oil and gas production and export, the ministry's work programs, and the efforts made by its branches as well as oil companies in the governorates to regulate the import and marketing of petroleum derivatives.

Mr. Al-Muharrami listened to Minister Al Shamasi, who gave a brief explanation of the ministry's plans to promote investment opportunities in the gas sector, stressing the importance of providing an attractive investment environment and launching strategic projects in this vital sector to achieve self-sufficiency and boost the national economy in light of the difficult circumstances the country is going through.

Al-Muharrami stressed the necessity to regulate the process of importing petroleum derivatives and fuel allocated to generating power stations and to ensure the availability of diesel and mazut in sufficient quantities to keep electricity operating and maintain stable supply status in the local market.

The meeting touched on the efforts of the Ministry of Oil in the field of investment and oil exploration and the importance of the role of security services in safeguarding oil pipelines, especially in Shabwah Governorate, recommending assigning security units of the governorate to protect oil pipelines in Shabwa.

Minister Al Shamasi reviewed certain activities and plans of the ministry to establish oil and gas tanks during the coming period in the governorates of Aden, Hadramaut, and Socotra. In this regard, Al-Muharrami expressed his satisfaction with the efforts made by the ministry to preserve oil supplies and prevent bottlenecks in the local market, stressing the need to intensify oversight operations and integrate efforts with all government authorities and related private sectors to achieve further success in the ministry's work during the coming stage.
