Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), received today, Wednesday, Mr. Abdullahi Hashi Shuriye, Ambassador of the Republic of Somalia to Yemen.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Mr. Nasr Harhara, Rapporteur of the Assembly, the two sides reviewed the distinguished historical and fraternal relations that have existed with the Republic of Somalia and the peoples of the two brotherly countries for centuries and ways to strengthen and enhance them.
The meeting, which was also attended by Brigadier General Ahmed Hassan Al-Marhabi, Head of the Security Department of the STC, discussed the security situation, piracy operations in the Arabian Sea, and the threats being posed to international maritime navigation.
Furthermore, the meeting touched on the issue of illegal immigration and the daily influx of refugees from the Horn of Africa to the capital, Aden, and other governorates of the South, and what it requires for further coordination between the two countries, with a focus on the security aspect.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Shuriye thanked the Chairman of the Assembly for the warm reception, expressing his appreciation for the cooperation of the STC and its keenness to ease the difficulties facing the work of the Somali embassy in particular and the rest of the embassies of countries in general, as well as praising the stable security situation witnessed in the capital, Aden, in particular and the governorates of the South in general.
