Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), received on Tuesday, in the capital, Aden, the Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Mr. Saeed Hersi.
In the meeting, which was attended by the Head of the International Organizations Department at GDFA, Dr. Najib Qaed, and the Head of the Public Relations Department, Mr. Wadah Saif, Mr. Al-Sharafi welcomed Mr. Hersi, stressing the importance of such a meeting to enhance cooperation and joint coordination.
Al-Sharafi praised the efforts exerted by United Nations organizations and the humanitarian, relief, and development work they provide, pointing out that Aden and the governorates of the South provide a safe and attractive environment for international organizations.
Al-Sharafi called for the need to benefit from the cadres in the South, empower the local community, and work on building broad capabilities, proving opportunities, and preparing them in a well-organized manner.
In turn, Mr. Saeed Hirsi affirmed the need to strengthen coordination and cooperation and work to remove obstacles, reiterating OCHA’s welcome of all measures taken to secure the movement of staff of international organizations.
