The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Tuesday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly.
In its meeting, which included the heads of the auxiliary commissions, the Presidium stood before the recent political developments and regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war and bringing about peace to the country and the entire region, and the results of the meetings held by President Aidarous Al-Zoubaidi, President of the STC, with the ambassadors of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, reaffirming what the President presented during those meetings on the cause of the people of the South, and the necessity of its presence in all stages of the political process, within its special agreed-upon framework, and its radical solution in a way that meets the aspirations of the people of the South.
In another context, the meeting discussed the report submitted by the Institutional Development Commission (IDC) for the period from July until mid-November 2023, which included a presentation of the most important activities implemented by the IDC during the aforementioned period at the level of its administrations, the positives achieved, shortcomings, the major difficulties facing the IDC, and a set of recommendations to ease challenges.
Similarly, the meeting listened to the remarks and observations submitted by the heads of the auxiliary commissions regarding the assessment report on the performance of the various commissions, which was presented by the IDC at the previous meeting, and the clarifications provided by the IDC on the raised remarks and observations.
The meeting discussed a number of developments on the national scene, foremost among which are the tireless efforts by certain parties to hold workshops and seminars related to the situation of the displaced, as the Presidium affirmed its categorical rejection of any unrealistic and illogical solutions to displacement issues, and attempts to target the demography of the South, which in this context assigned the concerned bodies, committees, and departments of the Council to follow up on the matter and promptly submit their reports on this aspect.
To the end of its meeting, the Presidium touched on a range of political and economic issues both locally and regionally, in addition to topics related to the work of the central and local bodies of the STC, and took the appropriate measures.
