President Al-Zoubaidi Appreciates French Support for Peace in the Country

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met today, Thursday, with her Excellency Catherine Corm-Kammoun, Ambassador of the Republic of France to Yemen.

In the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zoubaidi welcomed Ambassador Kammoun, lauding the efforts of the French government to accelerate the political process aimed at bringing about peace in the country, appreciating the French role in supporting the PLC and the government, and the humanitarian support that France provides to alleviate the human suffering experienced by our people.

They reviewed the regional and international efforts and endeavours aimed at durably ending the war and bringing about peace to the country and the developments of the political process led by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to cease the war in the country and start a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

President Al-Zoubaidi briefed the French Ambassador on the understandings reached by the legitimate parties within the framework of the PLC, with a focus on the consensus on developing a special framework for the cause of the people of the South that ensures its presence in all stages of the political process, given its centrality and importance in ending the conflict.

President Al-Zoubaidi reiterated that peace in Yemen will not be achieved without a just solution to the cause of the people of the South, in a way that meets the aspirations of the people of the South and what is endorsed in international laws guaranteeing the right of peoples to self-determination.

For her part, the Ambassador of the Republic of France expressed her government's support for all regional and international efforts aimed at bringing about peace and restoring security and stability to the country, as well as its backing for the cohesiveness of the PLC and the legitimate government to move forward in the course of the political process in its various stages.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Imad Mohammad, Office Director of the Vice-President of the PLC, Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC, Mr. Saleh Al-Quaiti, Advisor to the Vice-President of the PLC, and, from the French side, Mr. Aymeric Beauvillain, First Advisor at the French Embassy.
