President Al-Zubaidi Discusses with Japanese Ambassador,   Peace Efforts and Prospects for Joint Cooperation

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Deputy Head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) met at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday with H.E. Mr. Kazuhiro Higashi, Acting Japanese Ambassador to Yemen.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the Chargé d'Affairs, lauding the special bilateral relations between our country and Japan.

The president reviewed with the Chargé d'Affairs exerted efforts to bring peace, and the latest developments related to the extension of the truce in light of the Houthi militia's intransigence and declining all international initiatives aimed at ceasing the war, as well as its newly launched military escalation on many different fronts.

President Al-Zubaidi has, too, lauded the Japanese unlimited support for the PLC and the power-sharing government, expressing his aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the president stressed the importance of Japan’s humanitarian aid in various development and humanitarian fields in our country, as well as its important role in reconstruction and contribution to reviving the economy and building capacities in the sectors of economy, development, and management, calling on the Japanese government to start investment projects in the capital, Aden and the liberated areas.

For his part, the Chargé d'Affairs of the Japanese Ambassador affirmed his country's support for the PLC and the power-sharing government, commended the great victories achieved by the military operation "Arrows of the East" in cleansing the governorate of Abyan from terrorist organizations expressed his sincere condolences to President Al-Zubaidi on behalf of his country's government for

the valiant martyrs who fell in that military operation. 

H.E. Mr. Higashi indicated the readiness of his country to enhance all aspects of support at the development and humanitarian levels, affirming the launch of a number of investment projects in our country, most notably the project to rehabilitate the port of Aden through the UNDP and to provide logistical support, training and qualification in the service and administrative aspects of the government cadre in our country.
