President Al-Zubaidi Discusses with Netherlands Ambassador Political and Economic Developments

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the president of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), and Deputy Head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), on Thursday, met via video call, with Mr. Peter-Derrek Hof, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen. 

At the beginning of the meeting, President Zubaidi welcomed Ambassador Hof, lauding the strong bilateral relations between our country and the Netherlands, and praising the efforts of Ambassador Peter-Derrek as part of the international community's endeavours to end the war and establish peace in the entire region.

The meeting discussed possible ways to renew the UN truce as President Al-Zubaidi reaffirmed that the constant breaches by the Houthi militias and non-responding to peace calls cannot help to go further in expending the truce, reiterated demanding the UN and the international community to exert high pressure on these militias, affirming that Houthis are exploiting the UN truce to re-arrange their efforts in a preparation to wage war both to seize the oil areas and insecure the international maritime ways in the Red Sea, and al-Mandab Strait.

The meeting touched on recent developments in the two governorates of Abyan and Shabwa and the victories achieved by the southern armed forces in the military operation of "Arrows of the East", which has targeted the hideouts of terrorist organizations in Abyan governorate, in addition to the endeavours of the Power-sharing government in accomplishing the required reforms to expedite receiving the pledges of the official brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to revive the deteriorating economy.

For his part, Ambassador Hof, expressed his thanks to President Zubaidi on giving the opportunity to discuss the latest political and economic development in the country and the efforts of the PLC and the government in normalizing the situation, and maintaining security and stability.
