The president Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council, on Sunday, at the presidential palace in Ma'asheeq, the capital Aden, received a high-level delegation from the World Bank
At the beginning of the meeting, the president Al-Zubaidi welcomed the delegation, which included Dr. Merza Hasan, Dean Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group, Mr. Ferid Belhaj, Vice President of the World Bank for Middle East Affairs, Ms. Jehan Abdul-Ghaffar, Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank group, Ms. Marina Wes, Regional Director of the Bank for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti, Ms. Tania Meyer, World Bank Country Manager for Yemen and Mr. Yusuf Habash, Country Director of the International Finance Corporation, highlighting the importance of having a representation of the World Bank in the capital Aden, as one of the prominent international partners that has been having a vital role in promoting development and humanitarian relief in our country.
The president Al-Zubaidi stated that the visit of the World Bank delegation to the capital Aden, for the second time since outbreak of the war, is highly appreciated, at the same time expressed his thanks and appreciation for the immense efforts made by the Bank's mission to stand by our people in these difficult times.
The president called on intensifying the World Bank's interventions to support livelihood and relief the citizens' suffering, notably, boosting food security, funding sustainable development projects and contributing to infrastructure projects in the energy, health and education sectors, and capacity building in institutions of the government.
In turn, Dr. Merza Hasan with the accompanying delegation expressed happiness in visiting the capital Aden to find out the high priorities require an urgent intervention by the World Bank, affirming that the management of the bank is going to have a representation in the capital Aden as soon as possible.
The Dean board of Executive Directors of the World Bank reiterated the commitment of the Bank's management to continuing its support to our country and providing assistance to its people to overcome their plight, stressing that the World Bank has been and will remain a key partner for our country in various fields of development and humanitarian relief.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, Minister of State and Governor of the capital Aden, Dr. Waed Badheeb, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation in the power-sharing government, Mr. Imad Mohammed, office director of the deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Mr. Nizar Basuheeb, Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, Director of the Executive Body to accelerate receiving the donation pledges.
