President Al-Zubaidi discusses with U.S. envoy latest developments in political and economic situation and efforts to combat terrorism

The President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, received, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday, Mr. Tim Lenderking, the U.S. special envoy for Yemen, and Ms. Cathy Westley, the Chargé d'Affaires for the U.S. Embassy to Yemen, and their accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed the latest political and economic developments and efforts to combat terrorism in our country, as well as efforts to establish peace and stability, and ways to support the success of the ongoing consultations in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the participation of STC, and sponsorship of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC).

In this context, President Al-Zubaidi assured the American envoy that the participation of STC in the consultations, hosted by the General Secretariat of GCC, comes in the context of the keenness of the Transitional Council to find solutions to the priorities represented in the economic and humanitarian file, including the importance of reforming the state institutions without exception, as well as discussing the opportunities to find a framework for a reasonable political solution that reflects the reality of the parties on the ground and the national issues, foremost of which is the issue of the state of the South and "the matter of unity", stressing that these consultations represent real opportunity for all, especially with regard to addressing urgent issues that affect the lives of citizens.

For his part, the envoy of the U.S. President stressed his country's support for peace and stability efforts, and the importance of the participation of the Southern Transitional Council in the consultations sponsored by the Gulf Cooperation Council.
