President Al-Zubaidi to “The National”: as we have strength of  self-control, we are capable to confront any Houthi escalation"

The president of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), the Deputy chairman of Presidential Leadership Council, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, affirmed that the Presidential Leadership Council puts duty of providing services and consolidating stability in the capital, Aden and the liberated governorates, on its top priorities, indicating that a new stage has already begun with immense challenges.

In an interview with an English-Spoken Emirate Newspaper, The National, president Al-Zubaidi indicated that the Presidential Leadership Council has been holding a continuous meeting since arriving in the capital, Aden, and held a meeting with government in which they stood before the ways to accomplish these priorities, pointed out that the leadership of the Council is going to depend on the policy of austerity, rationing of spending, in various sectors of the State, and fighting corruption to make progress.

The president Al-Zubaidi added, "We have been burdened the concerns and aspirations of our people in all stages of the negotiations and time has come to put words into actions, and we rely immensely on the official brothers in the Arab coalition to provide a financial grant to revive the economic situation, and we count on donating friends and the entire international community to provide a humanitarian support to the Yemeni people." 

The president Al-Zubaidi continued his speech, saying: "Our message to the regional and international communities is that we are going to establish peace, security and stability in the region, combat terrorism, and also fight the Houthi militias if it continues intransigence and rejecting the calls for peace."

The president Al-Zubaidi reiterated that the Leadership Council will activate anti-corruption monitoring bodies in the liberated governorates, noting that this file was one of the main points discussed in Riyadh consultations.

Regarding peace process with the Houthi militias, Al-Zubaidi explained that peace with these militias will be under the umbrella of the United Nations, affirmed that peace for the Presidential Council is a constant option, but the choice of war is still on the table if the Houthis have continued intransigence and rejecting the calls for peace.

The president Al-Zubaidi also affirmed commitment of the Leadership Council to the UN truce at all levels, but at the same time warned, "as we have strength of  self-control, we also have capability to confront any escalation by Houthi militias."

On the subject of the newly resurgent terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS, Al-Zubaidi stated: "Terrorism has recently re-emerged in governorates of Abyan and Shabwa, as the Houthi militias have begun to shift their strategies by coordinating with terrorist organizations ISIS and Al-Qaeda, to conduct terroristic attacks.", emphasized that combating terrorism and securing the International maritime ways comes on the Council's priorities, and they  welcome any international efforts spend in this regard, Al-Zubaidi assured that the concerned military forces are in need of support with weapons and naval equipments "motorboats", in addition to train and drill officers and personnels to enable them to accomplish their tasks in securing the international shipping lines in the Red Sea, al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden.
