President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to develop the Communications and Information Technology (ICT) sector to keep pace with rapid developments in this vital field and achieve a qualitative leap in its performance and services.
These remarks came during his meeting on Thursday in the capital, Aden, with the Acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Waed Badheeb, and the heads of the ministry's affiliated institutions and bodies.
During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi reviewed the workflow within the ministry, its institutions and bodies, and the plans underway to modernize telecommunications infrastructure, enhance workforce capabilities, and upgrade institutional performance across all sector-affiliated institutions, bodies, and facilities.
The President received a detailed briefing on key completed projects, including the launch of Starlink satellite internet service, and major ongoing initiatives. These include Phase Two of the comprehensive expansion plan for AdenNet infrastructure development and the ministry's efforts to attract investments, expand technical services in the country, and develop integrated infrastructure enabling the state to regain full control of the sector as an integral part of the country's national security.
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Badheeb expressed his sincere gratitude for the immense support provided by President Al-Zubaidi to the ministry and his tireless efforts to ease the challenges facing its work. He affirmed the ministry leadership's commitment to advancing the implementation of development plans aimed at bolstering the sector's role in comprehensive development.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Imad Mohammed, Director of the Office of the Vice President of the PLC.
