President Al-Zubaidi Meets Aviation General Directors and Pledges Support to Rebuild and Advance Air-Transport Sector

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met today, Sunday, in the capital, Aden, with Capt. Saleh bin Nahid, Chairman of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority (CAMA); Capt. Nasser Mahmoud Al-Yafe'i, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemen Airways Company; Capt. Mohsen Haidara, Commercial Director of Yemenia; and Haitham Jaber, Director General of Aden International Airport.

During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi listened to a comprehensive briefing from Capt. Bin Nahid on civil aviation sector conditions and the challenges facing the authority, in addition to the ongoing plans to modernize the infrastructure of airports in the liberated governorates and boost their technical and operational readiness.

Capt. Nasser Al-Yafe'i outlined a detailed briefing on the reality of Yemen Airways and the efforts made to recover the company from the major losses it sustained due to the Houthi militias' seizure of several aircraft and the destruction of vital assets.

In the same context, Capt. Al-Yafe'i, with the participation of Commercial Director Mohsen Haidara, reviewed the company's fleet enhancement plans, training and qualification programs, and efforts to modernize administrative and financial systems, which reflects positively on improving the quality of services and achieving operational sustainability.

The President reiterated the PLC's full support for the leadership of the Authority and the company to confront the challenges imposed by the Houthi terrorist militias to undermine this sovereign sector and exploit it for sabotage purposes, renewing the leadership's commitment to provide the necessary support to restore air transportation activity and expand its services.

President Al-Zubaidi praised the efforts of the Aden International Airport management, stressing the urgency of accelerating the development of its facilities and rehabilitating its technical and administrative staff to enhance its efficiency as a vital hub that serves citizens and travelers alike.

At the end of the meeting, the general directors of CAMA, Yemenia, and Aden Airport expressed their sincere appreciation for President Al-Zubaidi's interest in advancing the aviation sector, affirming their commitment to continue efforts to overcome the challenges and achieve the aspirations of developing national airports and raising the readiness of the civil aviation sector.
