President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), gave an urgent directive to resume judicial work across all courts in the capital, Aden. He ordered them to reopen without delay and immediately resume work, enabling citizens’ cases to be heard and ending the prolonged shutdown of the judicial system in the city.
These directives came during his meeting on Saturday with the head of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), Judge Mohsen Al-Hawshabi, and members of the SJC, including Judge Ali Nasser Laoush, Head of the Supreme Court; Judge Qaher Mustafa, Attorney General; Judge Suhail Hamza, Secretary General of the SJC; Judge Nazim Bawazir, head of the Judicial Inspection Commission; Judge Sabah Al-Alawani; Judge Abdul Karim Al-Nomani; and Judge Ali Mohammed Kadish, in the presence of the Deputy President of the STC, Vice Chairman of the PLC, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Muharrami; Governor Ahmed Hamed Lamlas of the capital, Aden; and Judge Salah Rashid, member of the legal team supporting the PLC.
The meeting reviewed the challenges and obstacles facing the judiciary, which led to the strike of judges and the closure of courts in the capital, Aden, during the past period, and the consequent delay and disruption of citizens' interests.
President Al‑Zubaidi emphasized that keeping the courts closed is unacceptable, particularly under the current circumstances facing the country, and at the same time stressed the need to resolve any outstanding demands of the Aden Judge Club through institutional and legal channels, in full accordance with the judicial system’s laws and procedures.
Thr President noted that the Supreme Judicial Council represents a key pillar that complements the executive branch, enjoying full independence over the appointment, reassignment, and dismissal of judges, and making judicial transfers to serve the public interest and improve the performance of the judicial system.

In the same context, President Al-Zubaidi urged the judiciary to perform its role in supporting the efforts of the Supreme Resources Committee and the Council of Ministers in implementing financial and administrative reforms and to actively contribute to holding the corrupt and manipulators of public funds, currency exchange rates, and citizens' livelihoods accountable, based on its statutory powers and law enforcement authority.
The President reiterated the leadership's full support for the members of the judiciary and its keenness to meet their legitimate demands and provide a safe and stable environment that enables them to perform their duties with integrity and independence to enhance confidence in the judicial institution among citizens.
In turn, SJC head Judge Mohsen Al‑Hawshabi and members expressed their gratitude to President Al‑Zubaidi and his deputy for their interest and diligent follow‑up of judicial affairs and keenness to remove any obstacles that may hinder the course of justice and affirmed their readiness to restore court and prosecution operations, support financial and administrative reforms, and actively contribute to laying the foundations of a system governed by the rule of law.
