President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Saturday with Eng. Salem Al-Harizi, Minister of Public Works and Highways.

During the meeting, President Al‑Zubaidi received a comprehensive report from Minister Al‑Harizi detailing the latest developments in the ministry’s workflow and its affiliated bodies, highlighting ongoing infrastructure efforts in the capital, Aden, and several other governorates, particularly road maintenance and rehabilitation projects, and outlining the ministry’s forward-looking plans to promote and refine performance quality.

President Al‑Zubaidi listened to a briefing on the major challenges disrupting the execution of several government projects, particularly issues relating to funding and logistical obstacles due to the country’s worsening economic conditions and the ongoing efforts by the ministry to overcome these obstacles through coordinated action with all relevant government bodies.

President Al‑Zubaidi emphasized the critical importance of directing the ministry, its affiliated bodies, and institutions to intensify efforts to prioritize completing maintenance and rehabilitation projects on strategic inter-governorate roads, and highlighted that these roads play a vital role in facilitating citizens’ mobility, streamlining trade and goods transportation, and bolstering the national economic activity.

President Al-Zubaidi has ordered the rapid completion of road infrastructure projects linking the districts of the capital, Aden, with a focus on the Caltex Roundabout Bridge in Al-Mansoura district and the sea road, calling the latter a vital artery that unites the city’s districts, and emphasized the need for strict adherence to the highest standards of quality and transparency protocols in the implementation of the projects to ensure their sustainability.
