President Al-Zubaidi Discusses Doubling Development Support with Japanese Ambassador

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and vice chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received today, Wednesday, in the capital, Aden, His Excellency Yoichi Nakashima, Ambassador of Japan to Yemen.

The meeting discussed the latest humanitarian developments in the country and the severe impact of the Houthi terrorist attacks on vital oil facilities and international maritime lanes in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, and the importance of concerted international efforts to confront these challenges.

President Al-Zubaidi listened to a comprehensive briefing from Ambassador Nakashima on his field visit to Aden Port, outlining a generously funded Japanese initiative to maintain vessels, as well as to rehabilitate and develop both Aden Port and the fishing harbor—efforts aimed at enhancing their operational capacities in line with their strategic operational capacity.

At the end of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi expressed his gratitude for Japan’s ongoing developmental assistance in various sectors and conveyed hope for significantly increasing and broadening this support to include other vital sectors that contribute to stability and sustainable development in the country.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, a member of the STC's Presidium and Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission (CRC) supporting the PLC; Mr. Imad Mohammed, office director of the Vice President of the PLC; and Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Deputy Director of the STC’s Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Authority (FEAA).
