President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), chaired an important meeting today, Thursday, with the Security Committee and military and security commanders in Abyan Governorate.
The meeting, which was attended by Major General Kamal Hamshari, a member of the STC's Presidium, Major General Saleh Ali Hassan, Head of the Joint Operations, Major General Abubakr Hussein Salem, Governor of Abyan and Head of the Security Committee of the governorate, and Major General Fadl Hassan, Commander of the Fourth Military Region, was dedicated to discussing ways to strengthen unity of command and decision-making and to raise the level of coordination and cooperation between military and security units to preserve the gains achieved in the governorate over the past period.
President Al-Zubaidi asserted that the Abyan Security Directorate is the sole body authorized to resolve any difficulties that may hinder the progress of security work in the field, in coordination with the governor of the governorate, the head of the security committee, stressing the need for concerted efforts and unity of ranks to confront the challenges.
The meeting reviewed the successful experience of joint operations in the governorates of Al-Dhale'a and Hadhramaut, highlighting the achievements in coordinating between military and security units. In this regard, President Al-Zubaidi instructed the relevant military commanders to initiate establishing a joint operations room for military and security units in Abyan Governorate and to benefit from the model experience of Al-Dhale'a and Hadhramaut in this aspect.
The meeting also shed light on the growing Houthi threats in Abyan Governorate. In this regard, President Al-Zubaidi emphasized the need to firmly and decisively deal with these threats, and to raise the level of security vigilance and constant readiness to counter any attempts to destabilize security and stability.
The meeting focused on the issue of the proliferation of unorganized security checkpoints across the governorate, where it was unanimously agreed to implement a centralized plan managed by the Joint Operations to systematically remove these checkpoints in a smooth and secure manner.
