President Al-Zubaidi Underscores Crucial Role of the Government to Assume Responsibilities in Reviving Economy and Improving Services

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met today, Saturday, at his office in the capital, Aden, with Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh Ben Mubarak.

President Al-Zubaidi listened to a detailed briefing from the Prime Minister on his recent visit to the United Kingdom and the outcomes of his discussions with British officials regarding the ongoing Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab strait, its repercussions on the security and stability of the region, its impact on food and fuel supplies to the country, and its effects on regional and international trade.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the humanitarian situation in all liberated governorates, the government's efforts to halt the economic decline and provide services, including securing adequate cash liquidity to purchase fuel for power generation stations to ensure service stability during the current summer, and the strategic plans that the government is working on to address the electricity file through implementing strategic clean energy power generation projects.

President Al-Zubaidi underscored the crucial role of the government in assuming its responsibilities in stopping the rapid decline in the value of the local currency by adjusting monetary policies, rationalizing spending, developing alternative resources, and obligating ministries, institutions, and revenue-generating bodies affiliated with it to deposit all revenues into their respective accounts in the Central Bank, which ensures the provision of adequate liquidity to stabilize exchange rates and helps the government meet its obligations.
