President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), chaired on Monday an expanded meeting of the STC's Presidium, heads of the auxiliary bodies, heads of National Assembly committees, and General Secretariat departments.
The President briefed the attendees on the latest developments in the political process and regional and international efforts to end the war and bring about peace in the country and the entire region.
The President added, “The upcoming stage will only be a political one, and we will go through it with all potential to reaffirm the presence of our people’s cause and to preserve the achievements that have been fulfilled due to the huge ultimate sacrifices that have been made by our people over nearly 3 decades of unrelenting struggle.”
The President emphasized: “We are fully aware of the dire economic and living conditions our people are suffering from, and our sharing of power with the government and the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) constituted a great burden on us, but that was a virtue of necessity to highlight the cause of the people of the South and enhance its presence both regionally and internationally, after the distortion and obfuscation that have been practiced against it over the past decades.”
The President then reviewed briefings of his meetings during the visits abroad with officials of brotherly and friendly countries and their representatives, ambassadors, and diplomats, and whatever related to the cause of the people of the South that had been discussed during those meetings, highlighting that the region and the world have become fully convinced of the cause of the South and the necessity of a just solution in a way that meets the aspirations of its people.
In the context of his speech, the President underscored the need for all central, auxiliary, and local Council bodies to intensify their political and social efforts, to keep pace with developments at this stage, to work responsibly and with an integrated mechanism to enhance productivity at the leadership and functional-oreinted levels, to continuously monitor the level of implementation of the tasks assigned to each body, and to accept objective and constructive criticism that aims to correct the imbalances and drawbacks, not to remain silent about any probable distortion or abuse against the Council from anyone, and to respond to it with all transparency and courage.
The meeting touched on a range of topics and issues related to the work of the various Council bodies and the measures to be taken for the remainder of the process of restructuring the Council and completing its organizational structure.
