President Al-Zubaidi Meets with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), along with Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the PLC, met today, Friday, with Mr. Martin Griffiths, Under Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the UN.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, discussed emergency humanitarian interventions and relief carried out by UN organizations in the country, the urgent need to address the funding shortfall in the UN response plan and to meet the acute needs of my people, including sustainable development in the South, in addition to the ways to increase UN humanitarian interventions in Yemen in light of the humanitarian crisis in the country as a result of Houthi attacks on oil-exporting ports.

Noteworthy, President Al-Zubaidi yesterday, Thursday, held a series of meetings with the President of the ICRC and the Assistant Secretary-General for Arab States Affairs and Director of the UNDP in continuation of the tireless efforts made by the Leader-President to bring the humanitarian situation in the country back to the forefront of international focus and attention.
