President Al-Zubaidi Appreciates Role of Sweden in Building Support for Peace Endeavours

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received at his office in the capital, Aden, on Monday evening, the Swedish envoy to Yemen, Peter Semneby, to bid him farewell on the successful completion of his tenure.

At the start of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi warmly welcomed the envoy of Sweden, lauding the great diplomatic role that his excellency has assumed in supporting the peace process and ending the war in the country during his tenure as the envoy of the Kingdom of Sweden to Yemen.

President Al-Zubaidi also praised the role of the Kingdom of Sweden in supporting peace endeavours and mobilizing humanitarian aid through organizing a donors' conference and its contribution to sponsoring a number of dialogues aimed at finding common ground to reach a lasting peace.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the political and economic situation, and in this respect, President Al-Zubaidi asserted his support for the UN-led path to reach a comprehensive and sustainable peace process in which all actors on the ground participate.

The meeting touched on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the country in light of the continued escalation of the Houthi militia and its targeting of oil facilities. In this context, President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of the PLC and the government performing their duties from the Capital, Aden.

For his part, the Swedish envoy reiterated his country's keenness to support peace endeavours, affirming that the Swedish government will definitely continue its role in mobilizing humanitarian support for the country by contributing to organizing donor conferences at the regional and international levels.

The meeting was attended by Mrs. Petra Menander, the Swedish ambassador-designate, from the Swedish side, and from the STC: Major General Kamal Hamshari, member of the STC's Presidium and office head of the President of the STC, Dr. Saleh Mohsen Al-Hajj, the Director of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA), and Mr. Emad Mohammed, Office Head of the Vice President of the PLC.
