Presidency of Southern Transitional Council Provides UN Envoy to Yemen with Significant Explanations About Negotiations Concerning Southern People

Presidency of the southern transitional council held its regular weekly meeting on Sunday August 12th, 2018, headed by acting secretary general Fadl Al-Gaadi.

The meeting discussed its agenda including press release of UN envoy to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffith, to London’s “Middle East” in its issue number (14501) on Saturday August 11th, 2018.

The presidency appreciated all efforts of Mr. Griffith to find permanent and safe solutions to settle down this flaming region. Therefore, the presidency thinks that the following should be explained to UN envoy:

1. The Southern Transitional Council is delegated by the Southern People. The council asserts from Aden, the capital, his persistent desire, full determination and unconditioned acceptance to be part of any upcoming negotiations concerning the southern cause at any place in the world and on any level.

2. The solution of two independent and sovereign states will provide a safe solution and permanent stability to solve the deep roots of the crisis and stop the war as soon as possible.

3. The Southern Transitional Council did not, and will never do, delegate any third party to talk on behalf of the council about delaying the discussion of the southern cause in any place or on any level. The council insists on the southern cause to be considered as a core and undividable part of any talks, consultations or negotiations, now or in the future. The Council asserts that any party that overcomes or ignores the Southern People’s will should be responsibility for all consequences to come that may lead to instability of the territory, region and the whole world.

4. The Council asserts that the Southern People did not, is not and will not suffer more than the current catastrophic situation under the so-called union imposed upon the south by force. There is no more catastrophic situation than the current one under this union. The Council reminds UN envoy with peoples’ right of self-determination as a core value of UN convention asserted by UN all the time and in all places.

The meeting also discussed other issues on its agenda and took relevant decisions towards them.
