President Al-Zubaidi meets the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, received on Thursday, in the capital, Aden, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mr. Peter Maurer.

In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the President of the ICRC, Mr. Peter Maurer, who arrived on Wednesday to the capital, Aden, and the members of ICRC delegation consisting of Ms. Federica Dio, Advisor to the President of the ICRC, and Mr. Johannes Breu, Operations Coordinator, and Ms. Katharina Ritters, the Head of Mission in Yemen, Mr. Abdul Rahman Ismail, Head of Mission in the capital, Aden, and Mr. Bahaa Al-Salami, Adviser to the Head of Mission.

President Al-Zubaidi praised the efforts made by the International Committee of the Red Cross in the capital, Aden, in particular, and the liberated governorates of the South in general, stressing that the humanitarian deeds of the Red Cross have been existed before the war, during the war, and until the present moment.

President Al-Zubaidi praised the humanitarian role of the International Committee of the Red Cross, as it was present in the most difficult circumstances, and played important humanitarian roles in conflicts, by providing humanitarian aid such as medical support, evacuating and accommodating affected and displaced families, as well as facilitating the care and exchange of prisoners.

President Al-Zubaidi pointed out that the Transitional Council is looking forward to a greater role for the Red Cross mission in our country, especially with regard to confronting the Corona pandemic "Covid-19", as well as in confronting fevers, and epidemics that threaten the life of society due to the deterioration of medical services, and their lack in many areas, due to what country has suffered from the repercussions of the war, and a nearly destroyed health infrastructure.

President Al-Zubaidi stressed the need for the International Committee of the Red Cross to play its role with regard to the prisoners in the Houthi coup militia detention camps, led by Minister of Defense Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, Nasser Mansour Hadi, Faisal Rajab, and their comrades of the southern leaders, and all prisoners of war.

For his part, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mr. Peter Maurer, and the members of the mission, delivered a detailed explanation of the mission's work in the country, and what it provided for 60 years.

Maurer stressed that the ICRC's relationship with the Southern Transitional Council is positive and solid, praising the support provided by the Southern Transitional Council to facilitate the work of the ICRC, as well as other international organizations concerned with humanitarian affairs.

At the end of the meeting, Maurer touched on the services provided by the mission in the isolation centers in the capital, Aden, in addition to medical services on the frontlines of the fighting fronts.

Adnan al-Kaf, Chairman of the Relief and Humanitarian Action Committee of the Council, Advocate Niran Sooki, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Mr. Mohammad al-Ghaithi, Head of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Saleh Al-Hakam, Adviser to the President Al-Zubaidi for Health Affairs, and Dr. Najwa Fadl, Advisor to President Al-Zubaidi for Women's Affairs.
