Al-Khobaji chairs meeting of Supreme Economic Committee of the Transitional Council

The member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Acting President of the Council, Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, Dr. Nasser Al-Khobaji, on Tuesday, along with Dr. Abdul-Salam Saleh Homaid, Chairman of the Supreme Economic Committee of the Council, Minister of Transport, chaired a meeting of the Council's Supreme Economic Committee.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Adnan Al-Kaf and Mr. Lotfi Shatara, members of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, and Anis Al-Sharafi, member and reporter of the Negotiations Affairs Unit f the Council, in which Dr. Al-Khobaji welcomed the attendees and conveyed to them the greetings of the President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi.

Al-Khobaji presented to the members of the Supreme Economic Committee a brief explanation about the Riyadh Agreement, and the progress of the negotiation process, and the efforts made by the leadership of the Arab Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to implement the agreement.

In his speech, Al-Khobaji touched on the path of external moves by the leadership of the Council and the meetings that it held with a number of officials of the permanent members of the Security Council, the most recent of which was the visit of the delegation of the Transitional Council headed by President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi to the Federal Republic of Russia.

Al-Khobaji urged the Economic Committee to mobilize active and serious work towards assisting and strengthening the role of the Southern Transitional Council and the government of parity between the south and the north, and to provide studies and research to address the current situation, foremost of which is the economic situation.

Al-Khobaji stressed the need to work to normalize the situation and support efforts to combat corruption and the rampant tampering with state institutions.

In turn, Dr. Abdul Salam Homaid, talked about the structure of the Economic Committee and its scientific role, which contributed to providing the Transitional Council with many economic research and studies.

Homaid pointed out the importance of implementing the rest of the provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, which will be the most important factor in helping the 50/50 government to carry out its tasks specified in the agreement.
