Thirty-two southern journalists from various southern provinces started on Saturday a training course in the development of modern media skills, organized by the Information Service department in the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council.

At the opening of the session, the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the participants, conveying to the participants the greetings of the President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, who directed to held such courses to raise the level of media work and the attention to the Southern journalists and raise their professional abilities and journalistic skills.

Lamlas stressed on the importance of training the southern journalists and media people in the field of modern media and positive interaction in social media, asserting that the south and its cause are constantly subjected to media attacks aimed at harming the southerners and their just cause, which requires addressing these attacks and face them professionally.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Hawa, Head of the Information Department, spoke about the importance of the course and its topics, saying that the importance of the course lies in the perception of the dangers of rumors in the southern community and how to response to them.

He stressed on the importance of making the voice of southerners reachable through media, pointing out that this training session comes within the framework of the Department of Information to develop the media work and the rehabilitation of the southern media cadres to keep pace with modern media.

The objectives of this course are how to write and edit news, how to identify the main features of the modern media and its means and the risks of social media for spreading rumors and how to monitor and control them, in addition to understanding the foundations of media campaigns and its management methods.
