The Southern Transitional Council Sponsors a Seminar in Geneva on Human Rights in the South


  Under the auspices of the Human Rights Department of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and within the framework of the activities of the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, a symposium on Human Rights in the South was held on Wednesday, moderated by the representative of the STC Human Rights Department, Abdel Rahman al-Musibli and attended by representatives of international organizations and human rights activists.

The symposium pointed to the suffering of the people in the South due to the Yemeni government's failure to meet their living requirements.

  The Human Rights activist, Lawyer Saleh Al Nood clarified the corruption methods practiced by the legitimate government that made the southerners believe firmly that they are under systemic collective punishment, affirming that the people of the South are determined to confront it for a decent life.

  The member of the STC National Assembly, Dr. Affendi al-Haj gave a presentation in which he emphasized that the Southern Transitional Council is a national entitlement to the peaceful revolution of the Southerners. He indicated that the people of the South were subjected to oppression, hostility and persecution by the regime of Sana'a.

The ambassador Ali Al-Bajiri presented a paper on terrorism as destabilizer of security, making it clear that terrorism is a Yemeni-Qatari-Muslim brotherhood industry. He indicated the expansion of terrorist activity and the increasing attacks in the southern regions that claim the lives of dozens of southern cadres and civilians, including children and women.

  The academic Salah bin Laghabar's presentation gave a description of the source of the people's suffering in the South, adding that this source is consist of three elements; Huthis, al Qaeda and the corruption system and their existence confirms a systematic war on the people of the South. the presentation highly valued the steadfastness of the Southerners and the support of the Arab coalition countries.

  The activist Raba Hammam focused on the negative role of the media, especially the visual ones, taking Al-Jazeera as an example of non-professional methods to mislead the public opinion.

  It's worth mentioning that a film about the suffering in the South was also screened at the symposium.
