STC's Supreme Economic Committee  Focuses on Repercussions of Raising Customs Dollar

The Supreme Economic Committee (SEC) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting on Sunday, in the capital Aden, for the month of January, chaired by Dr. Mohammed Ali Mattash, head of the SEC.

The meeting focused on the recent decisions of the government to hike the customs dollar rate, electricity and water tariffs, and gas pricing.

The SEC reaffirmed its position, which it had previously announced, by rejecting these ill-considered decisions since the daily living conditions of citizens cannot bear any new burdens, in addition to the fact that these decisions took into account boosting state revenues without taking any countermeasures to reduce its expenditures.

The meeting, too, discussed the topics included in the action plan, the activities of the ESC between the last previous and current meetings, and what has been accomplished during the past period, as well as certain measures, decisions, and recommendations made by the SEC.
