President Al-Zubaidi Discusses with Belgian Ambassador Endeavours to Establish Peace and Revive the Economy 

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the president of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and the deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Monday, Mr. Pascal H. Grégoire, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Yemen.

During the meeting, the latest political, economic, and military developments were discussed in light of the regional and international movement aimed at ending the war and bringing peace to the region, in addition to the role of the EU countries in supporting the efforts of the PLC to save the deteriorating economy as a result of the continued Houthi escalation, its rejection of all peace initiatives, and frequent attacks on economic facilities, especially the oil-exporting ports.

The meeting, too, reviewed the Belgian position in supporting the PLC and the power-sharing government, as well as ways and mechanisms to enhance the humanitarian aid of the Belgian government to our country, foremost of which is promoting qualification and training opportunities to employees in state institutions.

For his part, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium affirmed the position of his country's government in supporting all regional and international endeavours aimed at ending the war, bringing peace, restoring stability to the country, and launching a comprehensive political process that establishes a lasting and sustainable peace. Moreover, Mr. Grégoire reaffirmed his country's readiness to enhance its support to the power-sharing government in the humanitarian field through the UN organizations and in the field of building capacities, foremost of which are women and peacebuilding.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, director of the General Directorate for Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC and head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee of the PLC, Mr. Imad Mohammed, office director of the deputy head of the PLC, and Mr. Saleh Al-Quaiti, representative of GDFA.
