President Al-Zubaidi Receives Ambassador of Finland

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the president of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and the deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Sunday, H.E. Anu-Eerika Viljanen, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Yemen.

The meeting discussed the latest political, humanitarian, and military developments in our country and the regional and international endeavours being made to extend the UN-med-truce aimed at establishing peace and ending the war, in light of the continued Houthi intransigence and its rejection of all calls for peace.

President Al-Zubaidi praised the distinguished relations that have existed between our country and the Republic of Finland, affirming that the PLC looks forward to strengthening these bilateral relations and enhancing aspects of cooperation in various fields, most notably the qualification, training, and education sectors.

The two sides reviewed the situation in the governorates of the South, the cause of its people, and their aspirations to achieve self-determination and restore their state through sound and legal means guaranteed by international laws.

For her part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland affirmed the position of her country's government in supporting endeavours to establish peace and end the war in our country and reiterated Finland's readiness to provide aspects of assistance in the post-war phase and to push the wheel of development as a member of the European Union, expressing her aspiration to visit the capital, Aden, and closely see the situation there.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, director of the General Directorate for Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC and head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee of the PLC, Mr. Imad Mohammed, office director of the deputy head of the PLC, and Mr. Saleh Al-Quaiti, representative of GDFA.
