In the presence of Al-Gaadi.. General Secretariat Organizes Informative Symposium on Politicizing Islam and Construing Interplay between Historicism and Textuality

The General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) organized on Sunday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in the capital, Aden, an informative symposium on "The History of Politicizing Islam and Construing Interplay between Historicism and Textuality" for the staff of the General Secretariat, in the presence of Mr. Fadhl Mohammed Al-Gaadi, member of the Presidium of the STC and Deputy Secretary General of the General Secretariat.

The symposium dealt with the importance of differentiating between creeds and politics, especially with the spread of Islamic sects and schools that evoke the Islamic conflict and seek to destroy Arab nationalism, recalling the difference between jurisprudence and politicization, and reviewing models for the usage of jurisprudence in politics throughout history.

The symposium provided an overview of the conflicts in Islamic history and how they were perceived as being governed by Islamic law under the false guise of religion. Moreover, it reviewed the impact of the lack of cultural awareness on the conceptual relationship between religion and history, giving examples from history of erroneously employing religion in political conflicts and the process of imposing the religious text as a political reality, indicating how this matter has been utilized at the present time.

At the end of the symposium, the discussion was thrown open for the attendees, who made interventions and raised highly enlightening remarks on what was presented.
