President Al-Zubaidi Highlights Effective Mechanism for Scholarships Eligibility
President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the president of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), on Monday, met with Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wesabi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training in the power-sharing government.
In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi was briefed by Dr. Al-Wesabi on the efforts made to inaugurate the ministry and its administrative and career structures in the capital, Aden, as well as the regulations and laws regulating work in the ministry.
President Al-Zubaidi, too, listened from Minister Al-Wesabi to a satisfied explanation of the mechanism approved by the ministry to select those eligible for
scholarships of cultural exchange, and stipends of students studying abroad, in addition to the difficulties encountering the ministry in this respect, and the possible ways of solving and overcoming such challenges.
The president highlighted the necessity to stick to an effective mechanism of transparency and not on any account selection of those eligible for external scholarships to make sure that excellent students have obtained their right of external scholarships to a high-level of educational attainment.
President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of giving students studying abroad all care and attention, and coordinating with the relevant authorities to solve all the troubles and difficulties facing them, foremost of which is paying their long overdued stipends, and working to find a mechanism to assure that they collect their stipends without delay, and help them pursue their educational attainment in the different countries in the world without any difficulties.
The meeting touched on several topics and issues related to the Ministry's work in relation to universities, and the conflict in determining prerogatives and responsibilities after merging the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training in accordance with the prerequisites of Al-Riyadh Agreement, and ways that could contribute to solving such issues.
To the end of the meeting, Minister Al-Wasabi expressed his thanks and appreciation to President Al-Zubaidi for his interest in the work of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and his keenness to ease any difficulties may hinder the progressing work in the ministry, and to solve the problems encountering students on scholarships abroad.
