President Al-Zubaidi arrives in Sheffield and meets the mayor of the city

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, met on Friday Mr. Majid Majid, the mayor of the British city of Sheffield, and members of the city's local council, in presence of a number of Southern social and political figures.

The Mayor of Sheffield welcomed President Al-Zubaidi expressing his appreciation for his visit to the city which is associated with a special relationship with the city of Aden, where the members of the southern community are one of its social components and have active successful contributions in the society and achieve success at all levels.

For his part, President Al-Zubaidi expressed his happiness to meet the mayor of Sheffield and the members of the local council of the city, in which he was keen to visit the city of Sheffield, for the feelings of the people of the south towards the city of Sheffield in particular, and to the United Kingdom in general, and for the mutual relations between the two countries and peoples.

President Al-Zubaidi said: " The city of Aden was a gateway to tens of thousands of people of the South to travel to Britain, and the city of Sheffield was a refuge center for a large number of the South people who fled to Sheffield after the war in 1994".

President Al-Zubaidi added: " In addition to that, many of the people of the south got their education and graduated from Sheffield, and they are now in high positions, and that makes us proud, as one example of that is the first lady as a member of Sheffield Council, Ibtisam Mohammed, who was born in the South".

At the end of his speech, President Al-Zubaidi thanked the Mayor of Sheffield and the members of the local council for their hospitality, in particular Ibtisam Mohammed, the member of the Council, for her efforts in arranging this meeting.
