Southern Transitional Council Negotiating Delegation concludes Consultative Meetings with UN Envoy Martin Griffith

The negotiating delegation of the Southern Transitional Council headed by Dr. Nasser Al-Khobji concluded today the consultative meetings with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Martin Griffiths , at the Office of the UN Special Envoy in the Jordanian capital Amman.

 

The delegation stressed on the support of the Southern Transitional Council for the peace efforts, the delegation also reiterated its keenness to ensure the success of the efforts of UN Envoy, Martin Griffiths, to resolve the crisis and achieve a comprehensive and just peace.

 

The Southern Transitional Council delegation emphasized on continuing the consultations with the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to ensure that the people of the South would get full and fair political and legal rights in any future consultations and negotiations, as guaranteed by the Charter of the United Nations and the right of nations to self-determination.

 

The delegation stressed that any ignorance of the southern issue will be on the contrary to the political reality existing in the south, and this will not lead to any way to any guaranteed solutions. The true and desired peace of the people of the South must be based on the principle of the right of southerners to determine their political future through the United Nations-led peace process.
