Department of Woman and Child of Transitional Council Holds Seminar of “Southern Woman as Political Decision-Maker”

Department of Woman and Child at the general secretariat of the southern transitional council held a seminar on Wednesday titled by ” Southern Woman as A Political Decision-Maker” with the attendance of Fadhl Al-Jaadi, deputy secretary general and member of the council’s presidency.
In his speech, Al-Jaadi explored the heroic roles and sacrifices of southern women as active partners in struggle.
Noor Fadhl Abdullah, chairwoman of the woman and child department, indicated that women are the life vain as inclusive development and new society can never be achieved unless women play a vital role in decision making. She added that lack of political will is a political barrier on the road in addition to passive tribal legacy. She also indicated that the department has a continuous plan for training and qualifying women leaders and empower them politically, economically and socially. She also indicated that these plans include all matters of interest concerning urban and rural women.
The seminar included several working papers on the characteristics of southern women struggle and the evolution of woman elites and her participation in political, social and intellectual life,  besides her opportunities and challenges of participation in political decision making, and the status of woman in the southern society and her actual political role.
